1000 Awesome Things!
Quite often I get caught up in in the complexity of my life and forget to appreciate the small things. This week’s Who’s Awesome is a daily reminder of the very small awesome things that bring a lot of pleasure, joy or delight to our daily lives.
It would be small understatement to say that we like awesome things here at Be Awesome so when I stumbled across the blog 1000 Awesome Things, excited probably didn’t do my energy level justice.
1000 Awesome Things is a blog that was founded by Neil Pasricha in 2008. Starting at 1000 Neil released a new “awesome thing” each weekday and finally reached number 1 on April 19 2012.
Neil was interviewed when the site started and said “if you flipped open the newspaper it was filled with the same stuff every day. The polar ice caps were melting, there were pirates storming the seas, the economy was on the verge of collapse, and there were wars going on all over the world.” And as a result, he created a website discussing “popping bubble wrap, or snow days, or the smell of a bakery.”
The awesome things cover all sorts of topics ranging from:
#880 Getting piggy-backed anywhere
#748 That feeling in your stomach when you go really high on the swings
#671 Reuniting a sock from the Sock Orphanage Drawer with its freshly washed, once lost brother or sister
The blog is still up and running and an awesome thing is still published everyday. You can also get more awesome from Neil in one of his many books or watch him speak live at Ted here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajKMkIXN1eg
Thanks for bringing more awesome to the world Neil!
